Lesson 16- The Internet and Education

CONTENT- The internet is simply called the ‘net’, and it is the largest far- flung network system- of- all- system. Through the standardized protocol called the Transmission Control Protocol/ Internet Protocol, everything is coordinated through the internet. Computers should have server with special software. The most attractive way to move around the internet is called browsing, it includes the Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and others. The World Wide Web is the internet’s subset of text, image and sound. Experts predicted that internet is destined to become the centerpiece of all online communications. With the application of Internet in the Education, the teaching- learning process become more interactive. Teachers and students can now interact through e- mails, there are also educational software materials used.

EXPERIENCE- Internet indeed plays an important role to us students. Because with internet, we are able to do research activities, also to visit different sites. It is important to us because sometimes, our teacher would require us to send through e- mail our activity sheet answer or even homeworks. Just like in our EdTech2, we are required to post in the blogspot our requirements which needs internet connection to successfully do these tasks. Another example in the use of internet is of course when we do research for our topics to be reported including pictures and video clips. Also when we communicate to others through skype, video calling, and others. With the help of internet, we become closer even to those who are on the other side of the world. We can pass our activities through e- mail in just an instant.

REFLECTION- Internet is really a great product of Technology. It makes our living easier, it connects everyone all over the world as long as there are connection. Also in education, internet plays a vital role. It makes the teaching- learning process more active. With the rise of internet, we also shifted to a digital classroom. Students perform activities, computer- based activities and they can have access to their lessons through browsing the internet. Virtual learning is also made possible where students and the teacher still interact through technology.  Students will just post the requirements and homework and the teacher will post the required activities to be submitted. Distant learning is also now available. It is for the children or students who were unable to go to school. They can learn online with the help of internet connection.

APPLICATION-  As future teachers:

ü  Provide virtual learning environment for us and to students to interact even when we have no classes.

ü Require the students to post their activities or other requirements in a site.

ü Encourage our students to join online classes for them to learn more and to interact with other students.
